I do a lot of work with statistical software and because I can't update my Mac there are certain functions and programmes that are starting to become unusable. <- this is the direct example of when I tried to just update it to Sierra. When I say 'doesn't work', it starts installing (the window pops up) and then another window pops up saying: This version of macOS 10.12.6 cannot be installed on this computer. I have then tried manually updating from the Apple website database - doesn't work. I have also tried looking through App Store and manually updating that way - doesn't work.
